New Jersey's first ever Metro Gathering Mega event took place on 11/15/14 in the metropolitan area of Warinanco park, Roselle, NJ. We achieved our goals with the help of many volunteers from around New Jersey, in just 4 1/2 months from concept to producing a very successful event. We had over 650 official geocaching logs! We received feedback from over 193 respondents to our survey and are confident we will produce another quality mega event.

We searched for a new venue with the option for an indoor facility to accommodate a large event and have ample parking, we found and secured the beautiful and scenic Waterloo Village Historic Site, operated by New Jersey Div of Parks and Forestry.

We searched for a new venue with the option for an indoor facility to accommodate a large event and have ample parking, we found and secured the beautiful and scenic Waterloo Village Historic Site, operated by New Jersey Div of Parks and Forestry.
$5.00 parking fee to help the historic preservation!
The Metro Gathering Mega Event is being held at the Waterloo Village historic site. This 19th century village is under total restoration to bring it back to it's former glory, there is a $5.00 parking fee which 100% supports the preservation of the historic buildings and take you on a journey back in time.
We are fortunate to have many buildings open and staffed by the NJ Dept. of Parks and Forestry staff during the mega event.
As a fund raiser to help Waterloo Village's Restoration, a few weekends a year, The Canal Society of NJ (CSNJ) holds "Canal Days" and opens and staffs many of the historic building for the public
On these "Canal Days" Waterloo Village charges $5.00 parking fee which 100% goes to raise needed funding to help with the village restoration.
We met with the nice folks at Waterloo Village and understand the huge and important undertaking they are trying to achieve to revitalize the village and raise funds.
Because the Metro Gathering Mega Event coincides with Canal Days the parking fee is still in place for public attendees. But they agreed to allow all Geocachers attending the Mega the option to park for free or simply make a $5.00 donation to help their cause.
It's your individual choice, when you arrive at the entrance booth you can choose to either help with the restoration donation or simply say you are attending the geocaching mega event and parking will be free.
This has been review and also approved by Groundspeak Headquarters.

Lanape Archeological Dig site
Come explore the history and culture of the Lanape Indian village. See where these Native Americans lived in wigwams, native gardens, the medicine man, hunting, fishing and cooking areas.
After you toured the Lanape village, head over to the designated “Dig” area. You can become part of the scientific team to help excavate and dig for Indian arrowheads! These are your to Keep!
RULES:
The “Dig” area will be only open and managed between 10:30 ~ 2:30
There will only be 180 Arrowhead’s available. There will be 45 tickets issued per hour.
You must obtain one ticket from the manager which will allow you to enter the designated “Dig” area.
You are only allowed “one” arrowhead.
Once you have found your arrowhead, you must exit the Dig area.
This special area is designed to teach about the important of preserving history around us. Please be respectful and no digging is allowed elsewhere.

Waterloo Village Historic Scavenger Hunt
Come the the Metro gathering mega Event pick up a scavenger hunt form and participate in the historic Waterloo Village Scavenger Hunt. Once you search the historic Village for clues turn in your completed Scavenger Hunt form and you will be rewarded with this very cool WV Blacksmith produced by Extagz!
Only one per Geocaching name, and only 250 tags are available!
The Metro Gathering Poker Run is back by popular demand!!
There will be a series of 5 new Letter Box Geocaches placed in the around Waterloo Village. These 5 caches will contain a stamp and stamp pad.
These new Waterloo Village Historic Themed letter box Geocaches "MAY" go live prior to the Mega event to allow folks time to seek these new caches and be allowed to print this document and participate in the poker run too! Please watch your HQ notifications, you never know when they will pop up!
Please stamp the back of this document with each stamp to prove you visited these new Letter Box caches. Return your stamped Poker Run sheet to the Game tent where you will reach into a box and pull out 5 cards, this is your hand. After all the hands are drawn, the highest hand will win a prize!
